God Gives Us a Window of Opportunity – Pt 3 of 3

God Gives Us a Window of Opportunity

Pt 1 of 3                     Pt 2 of 3

My friend and I left. While driving away the scripture came to me about when the sons of Sceva attempted to battle evil spirits and failed.

They failed because they were in someone (something) else’s territory. I knew going into my mother’s house meant entering into an environment where she, and her ‘friends’, had authority. I wasn’t welcomed there. I didn’t belong there. But the Lord gave me an opening. He made a way for me. All, except one spirit, wasn’t in the house while I was there. There were outside waiting for the time allotted until they could return to their space.

End of Patricia’s story.

I couldn’t stop thinking of Patricia’s story. I do believe in spiritual things. I respect other’s beliefs. I’d had similar experiences as she did. I believed her account of knowing spirits were watching, waiting to come back in. I knew God had given her a timeframe to be there at her mother’s, a time that she’d be protected from spiritual harm.

I know everyone doesn’t believe in spiritual things. People believe they can go wherever they like without concern of being harmed. I have a military experience that will illustrate how I felt about Patricia’s window of opportunity. In the military, while standing around with other soldiers, if a higher-ranking person comes near, the first person to see them is to yell, “Make a hole!” Everyone immediately parts the huddle and the higher-ranking person simply walks through, then the hole closes up again. That’s how I felt about Patricia’s story. The spirits were instructed, by the Lord, to make way, make a hole, make space, for Patricia to be there in the home and they weren’t permitted to interact with her or interfere with her mission. All except the one she saw in the hallway, though it ran when it saw her and she didn’t see it again in the house.

Regarding when Patricia heard it was time to go. She knew her window of opportunity was ending and she needed to be gone before it completely closed. She knew if she stayed passed her allotted time, she’d be in harm’s way (Acts 19:15-16 “And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.” KJV).

I’d love to read your experiences with unsettling spiritual situations. How did you handle your feelings? Did you tell anyone of your experience(s)? Why or why not?
