My Purpose in the BDSM Community

I enjoy doing many different things to others to create memorable experiences for them.

My BSDM lifestyle has opened up opportunities to meet others who engage in things I love to witness, and yet have no interest in actually trying myself. A few examples would be needle play, fire play, rope bondage. I found that I like what I thought to be too many things i.e. sensation play, impact play, CBT, sounding, confinement, and psychological domination and yes, there’s more. The top of my list is functioning as a Master in a Master/slave dynamic, which may not necessarily include physical “play.” Also, my types of “play” do not include my being penetrated in any way.

Early in my official journey I’ve encountered people who seem to have a “main thing” they do or that’s the focal point of what they engage in. I was often asked, “So, Miss Dion, what’s your ‘thing?'” And, I wondered what my “thing” was or would become. I tried things I wasn’t sure I’d like simply to determine if it’d grow on me, such as erotic hypnosis and rope play. I thoroughly enjoy watching rope play and rope suspension. My heart flutters when I see artistic rope configurations. I’m amazed at the skill level of the rope top as well as the endurance and flexibility of the rope bottom. However, I have no interest in continuing to learn to do rope.

It was the same with erotic hypnosis. I understand the concept and I saw first-hand how much fun it can be for others. Maybe because of my clinical background and using hypnosis for therapeutic purposes; maybe because I don’t play for someone else to be sexually aroused … I found that it wasn’t for me.

I’d explain that I enjoyed doing many things and so the question became, “What top three things do you enjoy doing?” That was a much easier question for me to answer. Yet, I still pondered, what my “thing” would be, though I crave the psychological aspect of a dynamic more than play time itself.

I’ve come to realize there’s different types of people within the BDSM community, just as there’s various personalities in the vanilla world. Some enjoy play as foreplay. Some are satisfied with play outside of penetrative sex. Many feel called to educate others, whether on a skill they’ve learned or to simply share life lessons.

Me? I find I like being behind the scenes when there’s a group. I enjoy helping others simply to help them and not for recognition. I admit, again, to wondering why my purpose in the BDSM lifestyle was; is. I’ve acknowledged it’s the same as it’s been since around 1994, though I was in the vanilla world back them. That purpose was to help others through counseling, life coaching, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (the other CBT lol), and reality therapy.

In the BDSM lifestyle and as a Female Master, my purpose is to continue striving for further mastery of myself and my life so that I can be an asset to others in their journey to becoming a better version of themselves; not because I want them to, but because they’ve expressed a desire to do so.

I realize there’s overlap with my personal and BDSM life purpose. I am who I am regardless of where I roam. I have a calling to educate others on emotional intelligence and how to effectively manage interpersonal relationship dynamics, which I write about on this website. I enjoy having a place, and space, to be all of me and write for various audiences.

I’d love to read about your purpose, what it is, when you realized what it was, and how you strive to fulfill it.
