God Isn’t Where I Think He Is

Bible is Fire

I Kings 19:1-18 (v.11-13)

v.11 And He (God) said, Go forth and stand before the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake:

v.12 And after the earthquake a fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

v.13 And it was so, when Elijah (I) heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle (I dress in the armor of God), and went out, and stood in the entering in the cave. (Only one way for me to go. Follow the Lord’s voice.) And behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, what doest thou here, …? (Listen, follow and obey the voice of the Lord.)

Psalm 4:8 “I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.”

The wind: The Lord passing by. His glory breaks issues and opposition apart. These rocks crumble before Him. His glory and holiness precede and follows Him.

The earthquake: an opening that forms to engulf all that crosses its path. There’s obstacles and distractions, rocks fall and crumble, but are still present. The earthquake brings them down and buries them: Those issues are dead.

Earthquakes cause mountains and valleys to form: As God is dealing with me and my issues, He raises me above the situation.

The Lord is not where I think or may believe Him to be sometimes. He isn’t in the midst of, nor is He of, confusion. However, He does clear a path between Him and myself, that I may see Him unobstructed. Allowing Him to guide me with His eye.

Whatever residue remains or lingers that isn’t of God is burned up, leaving behind only the holiness of the Lord, which provides nourishment for godly seed to grow.

When I’m determined in my heart to walk with and follow my Father, I and my works will have to go through the fire in order to come forth as pure gold. The trials and temptations of this world and my flesh have to be broken down, my flesh – dead and buried, burned to allow a new birth in the presence of Almighty God. Only then, will I live a peaceful, fulfilling, and restful life.
