Intimacy is Not Sex

This age of modern technology and busyness prompts us to take better care of our electronics than the people in our circle has decreased the intimacy we share with others. Many hold the misconception that intimacy is having sex because sexual acts are meant to be private, special, and bonding. Today, sex is likely to be none of the above. It has more and more become … just sex. The penetrative act of a cock in a twat. Sex is so underrated that even oral sex isn’t considered sex. How can that be when “sex” is included in the phrase “oral sex?” Because the intimacy of sharing our body with another person has lost its … intimacy.

Intimacy has taken on a meaning of its own. The meaning I give it is a moment or act that qualifies and bonds two lovers or would-be-lovers. It can be a soft touch tucking a piece of hair behind her ear; the gently rubbing on his back to smooth out his shirt; a kiss goodbye on the cheek with a whisper of “I’ll see you tonight” in his ear; caressing her leg as he drives the car to the restaurant for dinner. Intimacy can be what the two of you make it. If you both feel emotionally closer to each other by it without or without sexual arousal … that’s intimacy.

Sexual intimacy is something entirely different. It’s an act or acts shared between people that create arousal in preparation for sex; consider it foreplay. I wrote a short story series on Foreplay.

 Foreplay Pt1      Foreplay Pt2       Foreplay Pt3

Intimacy and foreplay can mean different things to different people. I’d love to read what your thoughts are on the above article. What do you consider to be intimate? What do you consider foreplay?
